Day 23: Trust
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. – 1 Corinthians 13:7
Oh Jesus! It all comes down to trust in a marriage! Love without trust isn’t love at all. Just as I trust You and have faith in You, Your promises, I pray that through my spouse trusting me, and I him, that we would be able to endure all things, good and bad. Hope for all things, present and future, and believe all things. Lord, please help me to remember to first, love You and spend my time with You. This will comfort me and help me to love and trust my spouse, even if there is damage and hurt from the past. We can truly hope, endure, believe and bear all things through You – because You, My Lord, are love. Continue reading →

Day 22: Patience
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. – Ephesians 4:1-3
Dear Lord, when the trials, struggles, and stress of everyday life wear on me, please give me patience. Lord, help me to not take out the stress of life on my spouse but rather turn to You Lord. Help me to be patient with my spouse and to see my spouse through Your eyes, Father God. Continue reading →

Day 21: Grace
Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. – Romans 5:18-21
Jesus, thank You for Your complete, sinless obedience to the Father. Thank You for bearing the shame, enduring the cross, so that I might experience grace! Lord, help me to extend grace to my spouse. Father, help me to live as a forgiven sinner, aware of my need, and willing to walk humbly together with my spouse extending grace so that my spouse may know and understand Your grace. Help to me remember that as sin increases, grace abounds all the more. Continue reading →

Day 20: Friendship
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him-a threefold cord is not quickly broken. – Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Dear Lord, help intertwine our lives. Help me to encourage my spouse so that we can draw closer as friends. I desire to be my spouse’s best friend. Help me to love in a way that allows my spouse to draw closer to me. We can be each other’s biggest support and source of enjoyment other than You Lord. Help this to happen and shed me of my sin that gets in the way of this friendship. Continue reading →

Day 19: Forgiveness
As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. – Psalm 103:12
Father God, thank You for the forgiveness of sins. Thank You for sending Your Son to die on the cross – conquering sin and death. In as much as I have been forgiven, may I learn to forgive my spouse! Lord, help me to understand my depravity, so that when the time comes that I must cast my spouse’s sin as far as the east is from the west, I will not hesitate. Help me to pour out grace and mercy quickly and without delay.

Day 18: Purity
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything
worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me-practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:8-9
Dear Lord, help me to focus my heart and mind on You. Help me to focus my thoughts on pure thoughts. Help shed me of my sinful thoughts and patterns especially those that are hurting my
spouse. Help keep my thoughts and my mind pure and help me to encourage my spouse to do the same. Continue reading →

Day 17: Anger
When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent. – Proverbs 10:19
Lord, I confess – I love to hear myself talk. I love talking to my spouse about life, the kids, work, family, and You. However, I find it difficult to just sit and listen to what my spouse has to say.
Help me, Jesus, to restrain my lips, and ask questions with the sole purpose of just listening. Father, help me to be a humble listener Continue reading →

Day 15: Money
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5
Oh, Lord what a burden and temptation money can be in the world we live in. We need Your grace to not let it become something You never meant it to be. Keep our hearts and minds set on You and give us an understanding that it is all Yours, and we are only stewards of it. Protect us from the love of money and let us be grateful and content in what we have. I pray that money will never become a wedge in our marriage as we put our hope and trust in Your providence and promise that You will never leave us or forsake us! Continue reading →

Day 14: Sexual Intimacy
Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. – Hebrews 13:4
Lord, You love marriage, and You love sex. You gave us the gift of sex to enjoy together. Protect us from sexual impurity and adultery. May our eyes only be for one another. Father God, make our sex life great! Help us to enjoy this gift in the way You intended. Allow us to give ourselves one to the other without inhibitions. May we love one another intimately and passionately holding the marriage bed in honor among all for Your glory! Continue reading →
