Picture Smart Bible review – and *giveaway!*

You have no idea how excited I am to be reviewing The Picture Smart Bible.

The primary goal of the Picture-Smart Bible is to draw [pun intended?] people into the inspired, dynamic, life-changing Word of God, so that His Word can be implanted into their hearts.

I just got finished taking a rather lengthy browse through the CD (hundreds and hundreds of pages of pdf’s)and I am very impressed.

The Picture Smart Bible has way more to it than I anticipated. Please bear with me as I describe to you what The Picture Smart Bible is all about – you’ll be wanting your own – which is perfect because I’m giving two copies away (details at the end).

Works for All Families

Whether you are looking for a full-blown curriculum, or a lightweight supplement, you won’t be disappointed.

Reading through the Bible? This is an excellent fit.

Want something to jazz up your family devotional time? Look no further.

Homeschooling? This will work alongside your current curriculum, or you can use it as a stand-alone.

Anyone, young or old, can use The Picture Smart Bible as a tool to retain what they learn.

What *is* The Picture Smart Bible?

I am so glad you asked.

The Picture Smart Bible is comprised of three main sections:

MASTER DRAWINGS: A complete Bible overview emphasizing key concepts, events, and people in each book of the Bible – all on one sheet. Even your preschoolers can take part by coloring on these sheets.

STUDENT SHEETS: Best for the 4th grade and up crowd (yes, even adults!). These sheets are a light outline meant to be traced and filled in for better retention. No artistic ability needed! The finished Student Sheet will look like the Master Drawing when completed.

CURRICULUM ELEMENTS: This is where you can use this as a full-blown curriculum. You can even use it to teach Sunday school or lead a Bible study. What you get:

  • Orientation Paragraph – “the thread that helps fit the Bible together and helps students connect with the previous book.”
  • Commentary - this was so well-thought out! Includes step-by-step directions for when and what to write, draw, or trace along with suggestions for Scriptures to be read aloud. To make it easy for you to follow along, there are thumbnail drawings which makes it super easy for you, the teacher, to know what the drawing should look like as progress is made.
  • Applications for Life – recommended discussion topics to apply to our lives today
  • Implant the Word – suggestions for memorization
  • Good News Starburst – every book contains the good news of Jesus Christ which is emphasized, even throughout the OT. I found 100 references to “Jesus” when searching in the OT section.
  • Power Symbols - these are common symbols used throughout the drawings. For instance the Word of God is depicted as a Bible; the law as tablets; perfection as a circle; and God as a cloud.

FAMILY TIME PREP: Involve the whole family! This is a great multi-level tool for all family members to use to enjoy God’s Word and participate in together.

CLASSROOM SET-UP FOR TEACHERS: If you are teaching Sunday School, or using this is a group, you will benefit from this section.

RESOURCES: At the end is included various maps, timelines, journeys of Abraham (OT), Paul’s missionary journey’s (NT), the Tabernacle set-up, Solomon’s Temple, and more.

Also included:

  • Table of Contents
  • Goals
  • FAQ’s
  • Teaching Tips – spiritual, emotional, physical
  • Notes, for your personal use
  • Bonus “Bridge” that covers the 400 “missing” years between the OT and NT books, as well as an overview sheet of the entire Bible.

Click here for a sample for the book of John (pdf).

Please Note

The creators of The Picture-Smart Bible want to you know, “there is NO substitute for independent Bible study.” Igniting a new joy in learning God’s Word is the goal here -not as a replacement!

She needs to learn everything hands on. This is my first FULL year of homeschooling and things have been pretty stressful trying to fit lessons into my daughter’s learning needs. I haven’t looked to see how much this costs but God willing I’ll get the free one or I’ll get the money to buy it. What a GREAT idea!

  36. Shawntele says:

I had seen The Picture Smart Bible somewhere before and thought it looked like a great way to enhance our devotional time in the morning (my kids are doodlers!). But, like many things that cross a homeschool Mom’s computer screen, this was forgotten. Would love the opportunity to use this with my kiddos, thanks for the entry! :O)

This sounds so amazing…I have a very artistic daughter who struggles with reading so I’ve been looking for non-reading supplements but everything is either too crafty or just coloring pages. This looks like something that would really work for her. Our goal is to memorize 12 books of the bible by the time she graduates high school, starting with the gospel of Luke.

  39. DeAnna says:

I would use this for my children and maybe look into a co-op opportunity so that I can share with other families! Thank you!
